This pendant is a larger pendant, about an inch and a half tall. It's made out of sterling silver sheet, and has a teardrop shaped stone in the middle called kiwi quarts.
and I did some searching and research to see if I could find a garnet of the same shape as the stone above, and so far I haven't found anything -_- I also asked my dad about the kiwi quarts stone above, and he said that the cut of this stone was a custom cut that he bought off a traveling salesman. So I'm not sure if I'll be able to find what we're looking for.
the stone does have a hole on the top. I soldered a little post on the heart pendant, and I used Jewelers epoxy to glue it in place.....Very similar to how many pearls are glued onto jewelry
hey! I always use the old stone setting techniques! there's just a few exceptions. and there's no shame in using jewelers epoxy to glue pearls and weird shape stones like the one in this piece.
look at my gallery! every piece there with gemstones in it is set the old fashioned way.
You are right about that. You have set your stones traditional way and I do like what I see. Setting are done with skill. Stones are level, and not too much metal is bent over stones. Stones seem to have good fit, tough I've seen loose settings in DA.
So for you. I'm just pondering about possibilities of glue. Maybe I should write a journal entry about it.
Glue has its uses, but some people use it because they are lazy.
*sigh*
But that's just because I had to work economically with that one. If I were to flush mount each of those stones into place, it'd take to long and I would've had to charge way to much for the piece Now if it were made of gold, that'd be another story...But now and then exceptions have to be made with silver.
But when I do glue stones into place, I don't use cheap super glue or anything. I use a professional grade jewelers epoxy that sets up strong as a rock.
thank you ^_^
You're very welcome. You do amazing work.

May I ask how the stone is attached to silver?
Does it have a hole and it is pinned trough that or is it glued?

These are the only pieces in my gallery with the stones glued in. The stones in this piece are glued in too
