This is going to be my entry in the "Saul Bell" international competition. You can enter as many pieces as you want, and since this is my first time entering, I probably should enter more than one....But life's pretty busy right now, so I'll try to enter multiple designs next year.
This pendant is made of sterling silver wire and sheet, with a two tone polish and satin finish. The gemstone is a natural amethyst measuring 10 x 14 mm. You can tell by the photo it's a unique cut, which they call a millennium cut.
Personally, I think the best I could hope for in the contest this year is to make it to the finals, and I doubt I'll even make it that far. But nothing ventured nothing gained right? Anyway, no matter the outcome, designing this piece as been a great learning experience from sketching it on a piece of paper, to adding the final touches.
*o* That is gorgeous! The swirly art noveau lines with the rectangle stone is really neat looking. The texture of the stone is good too. Regardless of how you place, this is an amazing piece!
it is isn't it? I've tried many times to design a beautiful pendant worthy of that amethyst. Finally when this design came to mind, I knew it'd be the one.
It's a beautiful piece and a beautiful stone.
Good luck!
Well, I got my entry submitted, and we'll see how I do.
